Folio is a private journal app. Your entries belong to you — not us. This policy explains exactly what data we handle and how.
Folio does not collect, store, or transmit your journal entries, name, mood data, or writing habits to any server. There is no Folio account. We have no access to your data.
All journal entries are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. iOS encrypts this data at rest via the device's hardware-level Data Protection. Folio cannot access your data remotely.
If you enable iCloud Sync (Pro feature), your entries sync through Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. This data is end-to-end encrypted. Folio has no access to your iCloud data.
If you enable app lock, biometric authentication is handled entirely by iOS (LocalAuthentication framework). Folio never stores or transmits biometric data.
Folio includes 200+ offline writing prompts that work without any network call. If you use AI-personalized prompts (Pro), we send only your selected mood and a word count — never your entry text — to generate a prompt suggestion.
Folio contains no analytics SDKs. We do not use Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any third-party tracking.
We do not use third-party crash reporting. iOS may send anonymized crash data to Apple under your Apple privacy settings.
Folio is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
